The downfall of the Americas due to the illusory concept of a democratic parliamentary system.

Over the last few decades, the American democratic parliamentary system has been plagued of representation by intellectual demi-mondes - some would say dilettante. These elected statesmen show such levity in discussing and deciding on matters that would demand the most painstaking consideration - even from some of the greatest minds in the nation.

For example, not more than one-tenth of the parliament have studied the elements of economics. Concluding, that final authority of the most important economic issues effecting the American country is vested in men who are utterly devoid of any preparatory training which might make them competent to decide on the questions at issue. Not only are these elected statesmen delegated authority to speak upon our counties economic issues, but also delegated to decide on aspects such as foreign policy, domestic policy, infrastructure, and bills of law. Our parliamentary system is not adequately composed in order for focus on specific issue, yet to focus on a myriad of unrelated issues that are haphazardly decided upon.

This democratic parliamentary system forces our politicians -who do not want to appear as fools to their associates to pass judgment on questions for which he is incompetent. In this moral debasing political system based upon image rather than individual genius, never will a politician say: "Gentlemen, I am afraid we know nothing about what we are talking about. I for one have no competency in the matter at all."Those who have a knowledge of human nature know that nobody likes to be considered a fool among his associates; and in certain circles honesty is taken as an index of stupidity. An presidential candidate or that of an aspiring senator would never honestly admit they are in adequately educated on a particular subject, as their name would be tarnished throughout by the media and press - which has proven to be vital in the victory of any election by shaping public opinion.

Many will be apprehensive believing that an elected deputy would have the audacity to present his constituents with an uneducated decision. A counter argument may be put forward here. The counter argument is that if the member does not have the knowledge to accurately asess an political question or impending issue, then the advice of his or her political party will be the guiding voice In the spokespersons answer. You can also further the assurance of a proper answer in stating that a certain political party sets up special committees filled with experts to accurately answer difficult political questions and issues.
At first sight, that argument seems sound. But then another question arises - namely, why are five hundred persons elected if only a few have the wisdom which is required to deal with the more important problems?

It is not the aim of our modern democratic parliamentary system to
“bring together an assembly of intelligent and well-informed deputies. Not at all. The aim rather is to bring together a group of nonentities who are dependent on others for their views and who can be all the more easily led, the narrower the mental outlook of each individual is. That is the only way in which a party policy can be put into effect.

My Educational Lament

high·er learn·ing
noun
  1. education and learning at the college or university level.
________________________________________________________________________________

The coveted University of Florida, the "Harvard of the South," the pinnacle of Florida education, and one of the few institutions to attain the status of "Public Ivy" by Richard Moll in 1975.

A higher learning institution with one of the worlds top research facilities - the university of Florida has made a name for itself amongst the top universities in the country. As a student entering into this renowned university I had expected to not only find an highly intellectual environment dedicated  to the propagation of learning and individualized thinking - but more importantly a dedicated and nourishing teaching staff enthralled with propensating higher learning amongst their students.
Unfortunately, the nourishing and intellectually Inspiring environment I had hoped for - turned out to be it's exact opposite.

My professor wasn't an intriguing and inspiring individual garbed in a tweed jacket  - yet oftentimes a disheveled looking man, lacking a competent command of the English language and grammar. The majority of time  though, was spent with a "Teachers Assistant" not much older than I - paid to handle the professors duty of teaching lessons.

My classes weren't small allowing for intellectual debate and Individualized attention - yet an concrete jungle, necessitating a microphone to enable a professors voice to reach it's inhabitants. If the classes weren't an auditorium filled with two-hundred and fifty students, then it was an online recording of the professor, who was to be communicated by email.

Although disdain is held for the aforementioned reasons, the majority of my discontent stems from the reliance upon third party entities to prepare and teach the University of Florida's students what their professors are not. Services such as Study edge, smokin notes', and tutoring zone are soon to be found necessities - which capitalize off the universities inability to adequately prepare and transcript it's materials into an overwhelming percentage of it's students. Students , and more importantly myself - did not pay $32,000 for an education to then require a separate entity to achieve a passing grade in classes. I am not receiving a degree from study edge, I am not receiving a degree from tutoring zone, or any said third party tutoring service for that matter - but receiving a degree from the University of Florida. And with that degree holding a hefty price tag, comes the responsibility of the University of Florida- and all places of higher learning for that matter - to provide it's students with an nourishing academic environment, and stimulating teachers.

I am unable to comprehend how such an "esteemed" university could lack one of the most integral parts of an education; teaching tailored to a unique individual - and therein lies the problem. The university of Florida is not an environment which prioritizes individualized teaching and higher learning - yet an institution for acquiring an accredited, four-year degree.
This is my lament, and wether or not I had unrealistic expectations of my
freshman learning experience is inconsequential to my opinions. My opinions, of which attending the University of Florida will not prove to be the existential education I had hoped for, but merely a means of education in preparation for the working world.

This was written free of bias, and anger.

Inequality is Necessary

Social Inequality is referring to the social hierarchy, which occurs in any large civilization. Economic inequality, on the other hand, refers to the inequality of those with and without capital. In order for a large civilization to function, there is a necessity for certain people to be beneath others. In a capitalistic economy, the “lesser people” are the driving work force of our industries and wide scaled endeavors. This idea can easily be exemplified through any historical time period, which I will document throughout America’s history.

In order for the United States to have been as prosperous as it was, it was necessary to enslave and exploit people as an unpaid labor force for our economy. From 1620 to 1865 over three million slaves were imported into the United States. The colonies that had the most specialization in production of goods, such as sugar and coffee, relied most on slaves and, consequentially, had the highest per capita (including slaves) income in the New World. However, the slaves did not accrue wages or receive rights, providing free labor to those who purchased them while receiving just enough resources to live. The fact that slaves were unequal to their captors allowed for their exploitation, whose labor of cultivating tobacco and cotton was the economic backbone of our country.

Although contemporary American society lacks enslaved people, the displacement and mistreatment of African Americans has led to an extremely large part of their population living in poverty, or under the line of poverty. According to a population study conducted in the 1990’s in Mobile, Alabama, the 13 most impoverished cities contained inhabitants who were 95% African American. It is this social inequality of the African Americans and other inhabitants of the United States, which allows widespread industrialization and corporations to continue running smoothly. Without inner city communities spawning a generation of children unmotivated by education and tormented by their surroundings, we would never have such a large workforce willing to work at minimum wage and hold such menial jobs. Without the abundance of socially and economic unequal peoples, our corporations would lack the workforce to run at their basic levels.

Social and economic inequality as well as its counterpart “racism” has been a topic of debate for over a century, yet it is impossible to rid of. Without social and economic inequality, Apple would not have a cheap supply of copper wire from Africa for their computers, we would not have unregulated labor in China to build railroads and fuel the production for major corporations, we would not have the pyramids of Egypt nor the Great Wall of China, and we would not have nearly as large scaled of an economy as we do today. In order to fight social inequality, it is necessary to discontinue a life of living in excess, one of which contemporary society is already so accustomed to.

It is often said that “those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”  Social inequality manifests itself in every past society, every present society, and will undoubtedly manifest itself in the societies of the future. Without societal inequality, advancement in humanity becomes impossible. Inequality is natural and inevitable, as the earth itself much possess a north and south pole in order to support human life; just like there is no darkness without light nor is there any good without evil, there is no (poor without the rich).

The Cycle of Ordinary

The expression “take your life one day at time” is frequently used, and is often recited to people who “worry” about their future all too often.  I believe the expression came to fruition due to the fact that most people are too scared to look at their future; as their destiny is as repetitive and bleak as their already every-day institutionalized lives.
From the beginning of our existence, we are institutionalized in a school system, which provides us with the knowledge and ability to acquire information as our lives progress. For the majority of us peoples, we are set to a routine from a young age to wake up at around seven o’clock, get ready, look nice for everybody else – and then tend to our jobs, duties or careers. As a student, our main goal is to excel in academics and studying. This takes us from elementary school to college, and for some of us graduate school. Through those years we wake up early, attend class, do our assigned homework, study for our tests which me must pass if we want to “go anywhere in life”, take part in all kinds of extracurricular activities to prove to our “future bosses” we’re leaders and exceptional individuals, maintain an adequate social life, sleep – and repeat.  After the repetitive week, it is time for the weekend! A time where we can let loose, consume all types of alcohols or substances of choice, get reckless, and maybe even wake up not knowing what happened! (If you really had a good time!) and forget all about the bleak and repetitive cycle which will reinitiate itself on Monday.
After the teenage years pass, when schooling and time for learning is said and done, it is time to move onto the real world - and get a job! This job is the definition of what the past 20 something years of your life has culminated into. This is your first position in the real world, where you will be part of something greater. This may feel different than the rest of your life, but this progression from schooling to a career will continue the same repetitive cycle as you have experienced throughout your entire existence. The majority of you will wake up at an ungodly hour, eat your breakfast, make yourself look pretty for all your co-workers and arrive at work. You will put your hobbies, activities that make you happy, and personal goals behind you - and attempt to excel at your career, just as you attempted to do in your times of higher learning. The majorities of peoples (AKA the 99 percent) will never graduate from this cyclic destiny and will continue on their path of working to live. The majorities will continue to wake up at 7AM to appease their boss or corporation that doesn’t really care wether or not they’re happy, they will continue to excel at a menial job in which they one day hope to graduate from, and you – yes you the masses – for the most part, will never reach the hiatus on what you dreamt yourself out to reach. For some, this mediocre destiny is okay and easily accepted. But for the other creatures, which inhabit our earth, their mediocre existence is the source of anger, confusion and the self-hatred, which so many are treated for by countless medications such as Xanax and Percocet. It is this inability to reach ones goals, the inability to break out of our institutionalized system, which leads to our volatile behavior and the recent trend of binge drinking and drugging amongst confused teenagers and adults across the world. There is only one way to escape this cycle perpetuated by the average man of society, one way to be great and one way to be different. You must be prepared to fail, you must be prepared to have people criticize your way of thinking, and you must have the courage and determination to follow through with your ideas. You can be the person who says, “I thought of that idea,” or the person who says, “That was my idea.”

There are many people my age who probably have these thoughts somewhere in their minds, but which differentiates the wise man from the foolish man, is his determination and ability to bring his ideas into reality. Once our childhood ends and we are faced with the time constraints of our adult life – we freeze. We freeze our youthful creativeness and sense of adventure because we are trapped in our daily cycle. The break-through payday, and the headlines of your company blazoned on every news outlet in the country, are the things that happened when people took the leap; the courageous leap out of your daily cycle while facing a possibility for failure. It is unfortunate that this leap consumes the many people that attempt to make it in life, but most of these failures are from people who gave up without realizing their closeness to success. So when you’re kicked, covered in blood and broke, do not give up - because a life of dissatisfaction is a sin in the pages of history. Just remember, everyone’s life is a story – so make yours worth reading.

The Social Hierarchy - Who has the most followers?

As portrayed by the majority of the population, humans are simply mammals that necessitate a leader to make their decisions. In every aspect of life there is a hierarchy in which somebody is above another. The highest tier of a hierarchy is one who commands, makes vital decisions, and is followed by the lower levels. The humans driven by success and recognition strive to be at the top of the hierarchy, and work strenuously to do so.  The person who excels at his specialty - whether it be anything from mathematics or acting is hailed and followed by the lower levels of society. The recent boom in social media and how it is utilized can portray this. As technology progresses, we are finding new and innovative ways to share our lives with the masses. There is a direct correlation as to a person’s hierarchical tier and their amount of followers on social media. A person such as Warren Buffet, with his insurmountable wealth and his exceptional skill as an entrepreneur would have more followers than Jane Smith, a small salad storeowner within the suburbs of North Carolina. The number of followers represents the hierarchical tier system and who is worth following, just as our leaders, celebrities, and corporate CEO’s are “deemed” worth listening to.

Just as the hierarchy represents the number of followers a person may have, it may also represent the desirability of that person and the cloud of interest they are shrouded in. For this analogy I will utilize a simple cocktail party; the man or woman most surrounded by individuals at a cocktail party causes a human to ask the innate question of “why are people paying attention to that individual?” What is so interesting about that person, why is he getting so much attention, and who is he? This man is clearly intriguing to the many people conversing with him/her, most likely due to his unique role in society. Those at the top of any hierarchy, being a community service group to a corporate organization, will most definitely be paid the most attention to. The lower tiers of the hierarchy are intrigued by their individual success and unknowingly surround themselves with their presence. Ones’ hierarchical level constitutes their status, which directly correlates to the number of people interested in their lives.

The two fundamental principals of hierarchical tier and level of desirability associated with tier can be best used to explain the social system of humans. Those at the top of the tier are often the most desirable within the social system. “Tier” is not a finite term, as it has an insurmountable number of references. One can be the most attractive person in the room’s current hierarchical tier while another may be the best at math, or even the most athletic. Each individual’s hierarchical tier will earn them a certain level of desirability and respect amongst certain different people.  When people complain about their social status, they are actually complaining about their hierarchical tier within their prioritized community - and their inability to excel at something, which would earn them credit amongst others. Joe the Jock may attract people who prioritize aesthetics and athletics, while Matty the Mathematician will attract those who prioritize academics and mathematics. It is the individuals tier within their activities and communities, which they partake in, that earn them desirability within their unique social system.

Your lack of Instagram followers is not due to the fact that nobody wants to see you in a bikini, its because there are little people interested with your life. It is up to you to distinguish yourself, and create a reason for people to care.
